“Better a dry crust with peace and quiet than a house full of feasting with strife.” – Proverbs 17:1
Peace and quiet are extolled as better than strife. If the price of feasting is strife, then it’s not worth it. This reminds us that the pursuit of a ‘house of feasting’ is not worth anxiety, stress, and pain that many families experience. Many men and women, in pursuit of plenty, find that it will cost them peace and quiet. It’s not worth it. A job that pays $100,000 per year is not worth anything if one has to loose his family to get it. Better a little with peace, than a lot with chaos.
